League of Ghost Seachers

Investigations

As of the end of July, 2009, we completed 30 investigations. Not all places can be listed because of our rule of confidentiality. We are in the process of contacting past clients to secure permission to list their locations. Cases are not necessarily in order because some were investigated multiple times. If you decide to visit the public locations on our list we ask that you be respectful of your surroundings.

Here is a partial list of cases that we have received permission to discuss. We will post others as we get permission from our past clients.

The Artique in Anoka, Mn 2-8-08 & 9-20-08.

The building that houses the Artique (an antiques and art shop) was built in 1904. Its only inhabitants were a husband and wife doctor team, Alanson and Flora Aldrich. The doctors operated a clinic out of the house until their deaths sometime in the 1920's. The building is now run by the Anoka Historical Society who in turn lease out the space to the Artique. We learned about the hauntings while taking Anoka's annual ghost tour. We consulted the staff and found out that objects are thrown by unseen forces, cigar smoke is smelled (Rory also smelled it while there), and a full body apparition has been seen waving from an upstairs window by a customer.

L.O.G.S has completed two full investigations of the building in February and September of 2008. In the February investigation, we recorded several very clear EVPs and got an unusual digital photo, all of which will be on the evidence page. Adam had a personal experience of seeing a woman's head in the upstairs east hallway. We had a couple of readings on the EMF meter but feel that they may have been caused by wiring. There were no temperature fluctuations.

During the September investigation, we investigated other parts of the building that we didn't do in February like the attic and basement. In the basement, Adam and James both felt someone or something touch their shoulders and neck. James heard a banging sound coming from inside a wall on the second floor and Rory heard a dragging sound also on the second floor. In the dinning room area, Rory felt a tingling, electrical sensation on his legs from the knees down that was accompanied by a 1.5 reading on the EMF meter.  In the attic we had a dual meter reading. The thermometer reading dropped from a base temp of 65 to -5 just as the EMF meter spiked. It lasted just a few seconds. We didn't pick up any voice, photo, or video evidence that night. We decided to leave 3 video cameras running overnight while the building was empty. Two were only able to run for an hour before their batteries and memories would run out (we have since modified the equipment so it can go about 6 hours before the memory runs out). The other camera was hooked up to a DVR and was able to run 6 hours. Since the place has a reputation for items getting tossed around, we wrapped the cameras in foam. This is when things got weird. Rory went back the next morning to retrieve the cameras before the store opened. The foam was off of two of the cameras and half off the third camera. The foam was lying about a foot away from the cameras. One of the cameras was trained on the DVR camera and we were able to see that in the first 40 minutes after we left the duct tape holding the foam on that camera slowly pulled away on its own but then sat on top of the camera for 20 minutes before the camera foucused on the DVR camera ran out. In theory the foam should have either stayed on top of the camera the rest of the night or dropped onto the floor right near the tripod, not a foot away. The other camera that was foamless, ran out after an hour so we weren't able to see what was responsible. That camera was sitting on a table upstairs. When retrieved, again the foam was on the floor about a foot in front of the table. The camera was laying on it's side still on the table. We did experiments later trying to explain what may have happened and came to the conclusion that there was no physical way that things could have happened the way they did without some sort of force removing the foam and tossing it aside.

A week later we again left the cameras overnight. The foam was taped down especially good and stayed on all night. We didn't record any visuals but came up with some intersting sounds which we are still investigating.

L.O.G.S has come to the conclusion that The Artique has definite paranormal activity.

Ramsey County Poor Farm, Maplewood MN 4-27-08 & 11-8-08. This site was chosen after it was found in a search of Twin City cemeteries. The cemetery operated from the late 1800's to the late 1920's. Citizens who could not afford a proper burial or had no family to make arrangements became wards of the county and were buried here. It is estimated that there were just over 2,000 people interned with only one getting a marker. The land was then used as a farm. Both investigations took place after dark. Personal experiences included hearing footsteps and seeing a black or shadow figure duck behind an out building. Even though this is a public park, no one but the team members were present during the investigations. We also experienced temperature drops of 10 to 40 degrees and draining of battery power in some of the equipment. During the second investigation our K2 meter registered a vertical pattern starting at six inches off the ground to almost six feet high. Was this an entity? We also had hits on the K2 in two other locations. EVPs from the first investigation will be posted on the Evidence Page shortly.

We plan to investigate this location more in the future. Our initial findings indicate that there is paranormal activity taking place.

The grounds outside the Monestery on DeMontreville Trail, Lake Elmo MN 5-24 -08. Just before dark. There is story about a monk running across the road every night at midnight.  About two years before we officially went into ghost searching, we checked this out. Nothing happened. Nothing happened during the official investigation as well. We have concluded that the story is just that, a story.

Union Cemetery, White Bear Lake MN 5-24-08, 8-9-08 & 8-27-08. We picked this site because it was close and on a gut feeling. The investigation done on 5-24 took place after dark just after a storm. We picked up two EVPs but unfortunately Rory accidentially deleted them while converting them into MP3 format which is too bad because one of them answered our question of "Why are you here" with "We want to". The 8-9 investigation also took place after dark under normal weather conditions. The 8-27 investigation took place during daylight hours. During the 8-9 investigation Adam and Rory (the only team members present) heard footsteps both walking and running through the grass roughly six to ten feet from them. Adam also saw images moving several times. Before the investigation began, they made sure no one else was on the grounds. EVPs were picked up on both the digital sound recorder and on the camera. several temperature drops of 8 to 10 degrees occurred including an instance when Adam asked if anyone could make the temperature go down. It went from 78 to 68 and back to 78 three times. An image caught by the video camera of a light moving across a bush is still under investigation. It could be a car headlight from Highway 96 though it only shows up the one time and many cars went by during the investigation and did not produce a similar image. Our schedule has not allowed us to go back to the cemetery and attempt to duplicate or debunk the image. The 8-27 investigation yielded spikes on the EMF meter several times and temperature drops of 10 degrees around certain graves. Two photos showed a possible orb (at this point we would like to say that we are not big believers in orb photos but this particular picture didn't look like a dust particle or moisture drop) and a black image right next to a tree that is in one photo and gone again in the next.

Many other investigators conclude that cemeteries usually are not haunted. The theory is that no one dies in a cemetery, why would the dead go there? We have a theory that maybe a cemetery is a nice, quiet, and peaceful place to get away from living people.  L.O.G.S  strongly feels that Union Cemetery is haunted.

Indian Mounds Park, St. Paul MN 5-9-08. The investigation was done after dark. Personal experiences included hearing footsteps, hearing a baby cry, and smelling meat cooking. This is a public park in a residential area which could explain all three instances. However we saw only one person walking a dog after the investigation began which didn't account for the footsteps heard. We did get a temperature drop of 15 degrees near one of the mounds. We haven't concluded one way or the other if this location has paranormal activity. Further investigations are planned.

St. Mary's Cemetery, White Bear Lake MN 8-28-08. This investigation took place in daylight hours. Adam heard footsteps in the grass twice. No EMF readings took place. We did have temperature drops of 10 degrees near a few of the graves, one did so on command. A EVP of what sounded like a woman talking to someone was recorded. Unfortunately we are unable to convert the rawtrack into a WAVE or MP3 file so we can't get it on the site. We haven't concluded that this site is definitely haunted or not.

Lilydale Regional Park, St. Paul MN 8-29-08. Daylight hours (we have heard that this is not the best place to be after dark and do not recommend going during this time and that has nothing to do with paranormal activity -- if you know what we mean). The only personal experience was when Adam heard what he thought was a human whistling sound near the falls. We checked and no else was in the area at the time. No EMF readings but we had a temp drop from 80 degrees down to 36 and 40 near the falls. We still haven't concluded if the falling water caused this. If this is the case, it's an interesting phenomenon. We got one good EVP from near the mouth of the large cave opening just as the trail bends around and goes uphill. We asked if anyone was there. Adam thinks it answered "yes" or "yeah". Rory thought it sounded like "famine". We all hope Adam's interpretation is the correct one!

Adam, James and Rory have been to Lillydale many times over the past few years. This is the first time they did a paranormal investigation. Is it haunted? Hard to say off of one EVP and some temperature fluctuations. Either way its a cool park to go to if you like hiking.

Marsh near Willow Elementary School, White Bear Lake, MN Novemeber of 2007. After dark. The story goes that a child was murdered in the marsh or the body was dumped there. There doesn't seem to be any records to confirm this but we thought we'd investigate anyway. No video, audio or photographic evidence was found. A second investigation may take place.

Outside the varsity football field, South Campus, White Bear Lake High School 9-5-08. The story goes that three teenage boys have been seen after football games tossing the ball around. People assume that they are ghosts of former students.  When we did the investigation that night after White Bear's first home game of the season, the players and fans were gone and all the lights were out. Of course, it could have been a couple of kids hanging around afterwards for a game of catch, but Rory knows from personal experience that playing catch when its almost pitch black out isn't the best idea unless you're into broken noses. Adam and Rory, being the only team members on this investigation, reported seeing a black shadow figure moving around near the fence that surrounds the field as they crossed the other open field. Upon reaching the fence, they found no one nor did they hear any sounds. A possible image moving around on the field was filmed through a slight opening in the fence (Adam & Rory were unable to get onto the field itself since it was locked up (another reason to think it may not have been living people). The team is still trying to determine if is anything unusual or not.

The Griggs Building and Tortoise Hair (located within the Griggs Building), St. Paul, MN 7-26-08. The Griggs building named after Chauncey Griggs (not to be confused with the Griggs Mansion on Summit Avenue, probably one of the most haunted locations in Minnesota) on University Avenue in St. Paul was built a little over 100 years ago and is an immense structure stretching at least one half of a city block. In earlier days it housed a bakery, a candy shop (where the Tortoise Hair is presently located), and a printing press. We first heard about the ghostly goings on from Tortoise Hair's owner Deb Flaim (who cuts Rory, Adam and James' hair incidentily). The bell on the top of her door which lets her know when someone has entered her business, has rung on its own. We tested this during the investigation and found that the only way to get the bell to ring is to either open the door or reach up and flick it. Pushing on the door from the outside is not enough to set it off. We started our investigation there and then moved on to a stairwell where extra footsteps have been heard by people going up or down the stairs, the upper floor and the tunnel system that runs beneath the building. Toilets on the 4th Floor bathroom have been known to flush on their own, shadows have been seen in the hallways and voices of children and footsteps have been heard in the hall by maintenance personal.

While in the Tortoise Hair we got two photos which seem to show a face on the glass door. We believe that the faces are of two different entites. More on this on the Evidence Page. We also picked up two interesting EVPs. On the top floor James saw a shadow move across the wall about 20 feet to the left of where we were and our guide, John heard footsteps near the elevator shaft. The thing is, on the 4th floor the only way to get around is to walk on the cat walk system or go through the floor down to the next floor. The footsteps were heard where no one (or at least no living person) could safely walk plus we were the only ones up there and confined ourselves to a small area near the elevator. We recorded one really strange EVP on our video camera in the tunnels that we didn't hear it at the time which you can find on the Evidence Page. The stairwell on the first floor gives you a sense of vertigo when you first open the door and begin climbing it. we had a theory that an echo may be the culprit as far as the extra footsteps are concerned. James tested this by walking and then running up and down the stairs several times. He reported that only one set of footsteps (his) were heard. Rory decided to set up a video camera in the stairwell and spend some time doing and EVP session with the digital recorder. Upon reviewing the video, the camera stopped recording a few seconds into the session. We use a standard Sony Handycam that emits a bell like tone when the recording process is started and when it is stopped. Rory reported that no such sound was heard after the recording began indicating that the camera should have continued recording. Unless some sort of internal glitch within the camera took place there is no reason the camera shouldn't have continued recording until shut off. The camera had been recently purchased and has work without problems since.

We have left an IR camera running overnight twice at the Tortoise Hair since the intial investigation. We believe we picked some sort of light ball moving along a wall in the Tortoise Hair from the first overnight session along with a few unexplainable sounds. As soon as we are able to load video, we will get that posted. The video from the second sesision is currently under review. We are also in the process with setting up another investigation the building. Due to it's size, several investigation may be needed. Based on what we have found so far, we have to say that the building is haunted.

Jessie Tomme Salon, Mahtomedi MN 1-12-09. The first thing that struck us was the amount of electrical energy in the building. It was so high that we couldn't properly use our EMF and K2 meter and had to leave them off for most of the investigation. We believe it may be a combination of the high volume of lighting on the lower level, possible old wiring and paranormal activity. Rory did the reveal a week after the investigation and took the EMF and K2 tp retest certain areas. In addition to doing hair, facials and massages, the salon also employees a spirital healer. She uses what is refered to as the Purple Room in the upper level of the building. When Rory retested areas with the meters, this room was so high that he had to turn the EMF off in fear that the needle snap off especially around the bed where the healings take place. No wiring on the bed was found and the room contained a normal amount of lights. These are some of the highest readings L.O.G.S has ever experienced.

Two personal experiences included James seeing a shadow like reflection on a wall mirror in the basement. We had a camera pointed in that area and he said he saw the image on the monitor as well but after reviewing that section of footage at least a half dozen times, no image was seen. Adam felt someone or something breathe on the back of his neck in the Purple Room.

We picked up several EVPs on the digital recorder and from the cameras we left running over night. These can be heard on the Evidence Page. We also caught the curtain that covers the doorway of the closet in the Purple Room move on its own. This was filmed on one of the overnight cameras just a little under 5 minutes after the camera was started up. Brian who helped Rory set up the camera had already left the building and Rory, James and Adam were on their way out when this was filmed. The two remaining staff people were downstairs near the door. (Again as soon as we get the video issue resolved we will put it up on the Evidence Page.) We attempted to debunk the movement of the curtain during the reveal, believing it may have been caused by a vacum effect in the building since we were on our way out the building at the time and had just opened the door. Attempts at debunking failed. Two photos shot about ten seconds apart show a horizontal room wide shadow at about five to five and and half feet high in the first photo shrink down to about three feet. We have no reasonable explination for this phenomenon and are leaning towards something paranormal. The group has concluded that this building is very haunted.

Griggs Building, St. Paul MN 3-6-09. We have previously investigated the Griggs Building and left cameras overnight at Tortoise Hair on two separate occassions. We have concluded that there is paranormal activity in the building and decided to check some new areas of the building and revisit areas that we have been to before. We had a few personal experiences such as Adam's pant leg getting tugged and Rory being touched (twice) for the first time on the head. Rory saw movement in the hallway on the second floor near the Alanon suite but when the group went over there, nothing was found. Adam and Rory also heard movement in one of the smaller rooms in the basement. One of Brian's cameras lost battery power while in the north south tunnel under the building and then came back up to full power. Unfortunately all data from that camera was lost. We didn't have any temp fluctuations but did get a level of 2 on the EMF after Adam felt the tug on his pants. This reading also coinsided with Adam asking if anyone was in the area. Nothing visual on the cameras was found but we came up with a few EVPs.

Como Park, St. Paul MN 6-12-09. Over the spring Rory and Adam came up with a theory that maybe the group could investigate a random location not known for paranormal activity and come up with evidence. We choose Como Park for this experiment. We set up in a wooded area across from McMurray Field near the brick fireplace. Other than a group of three women who were on a walk and were long gone after our first five minutes there, we were the only people around. We filmed with both the video and still camera and did some EVP work. We didn't notice any temperature fluctuations or EMF or K2 hits, nor did we collect any visual evidence but we did come up with two EVPs that we cant explain. Does Como Park have paranormal activity? Maybe. We plan to try this experiment again both at Como and at other locations.

Union Cemetery, 6-13-09. We invited two guest investigators, Steve and Jackie, along on this one. We had told them about our previous expeditions to this cemetery and they were egar for their first case. We investigated both compounds of the cemetery. Not much happened at the north end other that us feeling a cold spot that didn't register on the thermometer. When we crossed the driveway that divides the two sections, our EMF and K2 meters went nuts. We were getting fours on the EMF and the K2 went into yellow. What ever was causing the disturbance seemed to be moving around, which caused us to rule out buried electrical lines. This lasted maybe 15 minutes and then the activity stopped. As you know we don't take much stock in orb photos but our still cameras picked up a couple of large orbs in the driveway area. We also photographed other orbs but are still undecided if these are evidence or dust.

4th Floor, McNeal Hall, University of Mn, St. Paul MN 7-3-09. Rory's wife Jill, works in this building as has been told by fellow employees that the 4th floor feels "creepy" so we decided that since the building would be empty because of the 4th of July Holiday, we would check things out. The first thing we noticed is that the floor creaks really bad at about the halfway point of the hall and the walls apear to be uneven causing a slight fun house effect. Also the hall has many twist, nooks and cranies. In some ways it remined us of the Griggs Building. The air unit is position at the end of the hall and is very noisy. Sometimes it sounded like footsteps or other "human" type sounds. We encountered no temp fluctuations and absolutely no readings on the EMF or K2 meters. As far as personal experiences, Adam and Rory both felt what can be best described as wet cobweb like feeling in one of the rooms off the hall. In two of the rooms we left the digital audio recorder running after we left the rooms. We picked up three banging sounds but haven't concluded if its just normal noise coming from the hardwood floor or something paranormal. Nothing showed up on the video but we found an interesting object in the one of the photos taken in the room where Adam and Rory had the personal experience. We believe that the creaky floor, the layout of the hall itself and noises from the air unit more than likely all contribute to the creppy feeling that the workers feel. Is the 4th Floor haunted? Probably not but a second investigation wouldn't be a bad idea.

Midway Stadium, St. Paul MN 7-10-09. As far as we know there aren't any reports of paranormal at Midway Stadium. O.K. we admit it, the reason we contacted the St. Paul Saints to do an investigation is because Rory had a dream that LOGS was at an outdoor baseball stadium. We received an email back from Scott Riley, the team's Promotions Director and he was all for it. Brian and Lisa couldn't make the investigation so we asked a husband and wife team, Amanda and Scott from White Bear Lake to help out. This was probably one of the more unusual cases we have done considering it took place during a game. we got more than a few strange looks from the fans while we were filming and check our meters. We had two noteable personal experiences. We noticed that the chairs above the first base side dugout were considerably colder to the touch that everything else around it. Secondly, we felt heat coming off a utility closet wall but the thermometer showed no change in the temperature. We did however pick up unusual temp fluctuations in other parts of the stadium that started out at 80 degress, jumped to 135 and back again. We also picked up temperature drops from again 80 to 33 degrees. Our EMF and K2 meters were extemely busy that night. As an experiment, we would wait roughly a half hour and then go back to the places where we got hits on the meters to see if it would happen again. Almost every place we rechecked, was devoid of the electrical activity the second time around. While doing the reveal, Scott told us that they use a lot of wireless communication equipment and that may explain the meter readings. This made sense. We will have to do some experiments with the thermometers to see if they would be affected in the same manner. We didn't find any visual evidence. Scott is double checking with the staff on one EVP that we picked up to see if it can be explained. Is Midway Stadium haunted? We can't say one way or another at this point. Maybe when we hear back on the EVP, we'll be in a better position to make a determination.

Poor Farm Cemetery, Maplewood MN 7-18-09. As you know from our previous investigation documentation, we feel that the Poor Farm Cemetery is haunted. Brian and Lisa had yet to go on an investigation at this location. This time around proved to as eventful as past investigations. Adam heard footsteps (again!) in the field area off the path near White Bear Avenue. He also heard them on the hill near the bench. While checking out the north end of the park, Brian and Lisa both felt cold chills. Adam and Rory picked up a temperature fluctuation that went from 65 to the low 30's in the above mentioned area where Adam heard footsteps. We also had high EMF and K2 readings starting from eight inches off the ground to about six feet high. These went on for at least ten minutes before dying off. While Adam was checking around on the hill, his EMF went to 2 and the K2 went orange and then dropped off. He then heard the footsteps and asked if whoever made the meter readings to go up could cause them to go off again and the EMF went up to 3. All four of us ended the investigation on the north end of the park. Again our meters were going nuts and we heard sounds in the bush. We thought that there were possibly buried power lines in the area but on previous investigatios, we didn't get any hits on the meters in that area and it didn't appear that any recent work had been done. We got quite a few orb photos but concluded that it was a combo of dust and bugs. A few of the orb photos from Rory's camera are under further investigation. Nothing from the video but several EVPs were captured.

Roselawn Cemetery, Roseville MN 8-21-09. Roselawn is an emense area of land. We covered probably less than one quarter of the grounds that day and plan to do further investigations in the future. We concentrated on the area just off of Larpenteuer Avenue. For awhile a storm appeared to be rolling in and then moved off to the south. This and just plain tiredness ended the investigation after a few hours.

We had be informed by several people that there are reports of paranormal activity at the cemetery. We also ran across a couple of stories on the internet. Rory decided to use the infra red filter on his still camera. The results were mixed. Adam went over the photos several times. He thinks he might have picked up a figure moving between the grave markers but its really hard to tell if thats what it is or if its just the lighting. Normally under conditions of bright sunlight, such as we encountered that day, the IR filter works great but the photos we shot came out very dark possibly due to the large amount of shading from trees. At this time we don't plan on displaying these pictures on the wedsite. We may have picked up several EVPs and these are still under further scrutiny. If we determine that they are paranormal, they will go up on the site shortly. The only video anomaly to report is a focusing problem that lasted close to ten seconds. Normally a video camera will go out of focus for a few seconds during almost every investion. Most of the time its explainable but we have had times where we wonder if the camera, which is set on auto focus may have picked up something unseen. We chose not to include the footage on the weebsite because we can't prove that the cause was paranormal.

The team had three personal experiences. Lisa and Rory heard both a high and low pitched sound that was unaccounted for. The low pitched sound was almost like a sound wave blast. It could be from the car traffic on Larpenteur but didn't really sound like that. Adam thought he saw a white figure in a grove of trees after hearing and unexplained sound. Rory heard a woosh of air right next to him just as the team was getting ready to leave. He did a quick EVP session trying to coax out the sound again with no results. There wasn't any EMF or K2 activity to report but we did a drop in temperature down to 45 degress from a base reading of 80.

There is the possibility of paranormal activity at Roselawn Cemetery. We can't say for certain at this point.

Humane Society Memorial Pet Cemetery, Roseville MN 9-7-09. Rory and Adam decided to investigate this location after some research and a hunch. To our knowledge there hasn't been any paranormal activity reported here. We thought of it as more of an experiment. We wanted to see if we could get any EVPs, photos or video of deceased pets that might still be hanging around. We picked up some audio that totally surprised us. More on that later.

The Humane Society Memorial Pet Cemetery has been in existance since the early 1920's. It had been known as the Feist Pet Cemetery and was donated to the Humane Society in the late 1980's. It is now full and no longer taking any new burials. It seemed to hold mostly dogs but we know that other animals such as cats, hamsters and possibly even a horse are buried there.

As far as personal experiences, Adam thought he heard a bark and saw movement. The cemetery is in a residential area and the house we parked in front had a dog which could be the explanation for the sound. We think we picked up a bark on our audio recorder after Adam had his personal experience. We're not sure if what we picked up is a bark or not. The cemetery had at least one if not two squirrels that were in residence that day which could explain the movement but Adam said that what he saw was larger, like dog size. We didn't pick up any temperature fluctuations or hits on the EMF or K2 meters. The phots showed nothing. We did pick up some audio off a video segment. It could be from the surrounding houses but sounds like its right there with us. This clip will need further listening to. Now, the three EVPs we recorded are extraordinary and may be some of the best we have gotten. It seems there may be a small child residing in the cemetery and it seemed to be interacting with us not to mention following us around the grounds. Please go to the evidence page to hear the EVPs.

We believe that based on the EVPs, that this cemetery is definately haunted by one human entity, possible more. we would like to go back to see if there are indeed any animal spirits rooming around the grounds.
